Hedgehog Rescue

This morning, we discovered a hedgehog in the Forest School area.  Unfortunately, the hedgehog was looking a little poorly so we contacted Leadon Vale vets for advice.  They told us that we could tkae the hedgehog in for them to look at and then it would be sent to a rescue centre where they are better equipped to help it.

Whilst Michelle and Fay went in to the garden to resuce the hedgehog, the children helped to make a safe, warm  place for it to allow us to transport it to the vets.  Sequoia said "she's called Millie."

Some of the children came with us for a walk to the vets.  We were very excited as we hadn't visited the vets before.

On our walk, we heard the birds singing, a dog barking, the dustbin lorry, lots of cars, an aeroplane and a man banging with a hammer.  The children were particularly excited to see a forklift truck - after we spotted one, the children looked out for more, counting them and naming colours.

We safely delivered the poorly hedgehog to the vets who took our telephone number to let us know how it's doing.  Well done children for helping to save the poorly hedgehog!
