September Sessions 2016 - Preschool

Although we have only just entered the Spring term, the Autumn term is already beckoning.  If your child is already with us and you would like to change their sessions from September, now is the time to tell us.  If you're looking for childcare from the Autumn term, then we would welcome you contacting us for a visit or more information on what we can offer you and your child.

Why choose Busy Bees?

As you'll see from our website and social networking pages, the children attending Busy Bees have access to a whole host of exciting activities and experiences.  Our free flow system allows children to move freely between the indoors and outdoors whilst under the close supervision of our trained and experienced staff team.  The planning of activities is influenced by the children's interests meaning our rich curriculum is engaging, motivating the children to learn and play within our stimulating environment.  Our up to date resources enable high quality teaching and learning support which sees the children make good progress through the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The children attending Busy Bees are split into two groups, the Caterpillars and Butterflies.  The Butterfly group is made up of all children in their Preschool year who are due to start school the following September.  They access a range of adult led activities including PE, Forest School, Gardening Club and daily phonics sessions which build on the skills they have already mastered.  All younger children are in the Caterpillar group, benefiting from time in small groups to play and learn with the support from our skilled team.  This term, we have begun offering Forest School sessions for children in this group and aim to continue this in September.

Learning does not just take place in the setting, we regularly get out and about in the community, recognising the impact this has on the children's development.  We enjoy walks around the neighbourhood as well as visits to the park, church, library and shops.  Children are encouraged to think about what they see and hear, using the ipads and digital cameras to capture these experiences to share and discuss on returning to Busy Bees, building on their communication and language skills.

All children have an online Learning Journey which enables you to keep completely up to date with their time with us.  You'll be fully aware of their progress, achievements and development within the Early Years Foundation Stage through regular updates online which you can access through a laptop or an app on your phone.  These updates allow you to see what they've been playing with and who, activities they've particularly enjoyed which you could try at home and gives you the opportunity to comment and add your own information.  With this, we build up a clear picture of the child, enabling us to better cater for their interests and needs.  You'll also feel involved through our half termly stay and play sessions where you can join us for craft, cookery and outdoor play activities.  We also offer Sports Days, parents evenings, fundraising events as well as daily opportuntiies for you to talk to your child's Key Person.  Communication is never a problem - you can keep up to date through our digital newsletter, social networking pages, email, text and notice boards.  We'll always work with you to ensure you feel involved and valued during your child's time at Busy Bees.

From September, our provision will be teacher led with a team of seven other qualified members of staff who will work closely with your child, playing and supporting their learning.  The well qualified staff have recently completed training in phonics, speech and language, leadership and management, maths in the Early Years, outdoor play, safeguarding and health and safety.  The investment in training ensures the team is basing their work with the children on up to date, relevant knowledge and skills.
