Egg Experiments

This morning, we were thinking all about how to protect an egg from cracking when it is dropped.  The children spent time thinking of ideas at circle time.

After circle time, the children were provided with a range of resources and joining materials to use to protect an egg.  There were some fabulous ideas, with the children recognising that the eggs were delicate and needed to be protected by something soft.  Some children chose boxes to put the eggs in while others used bubble wrap, tissue paper, cardboard tubes, cotton wool and padded envelopes.

They set about bringing their ideas to life before we all went outdoors to test them out.

Some of the eggs unfortunately cracked and some broke completely!!  However, one protected with bubble wrap remained intact, as did one in the jaffa cake box and another in polystyrene.  We used the unbroken eggs to make cakes for the children to take home.
