Autumn Term 2017 - Preschool Information

We return for the Autumn term on Tuesday 5th September with sessions beginning at 9am.  Below, you will find some information whether you are a new parent of a child at Busy Bees or an existing parent:

New Parent or Carer:

We are pleased to welcome you to Busy Bees for the beginning of the new school year.  It's going to be an exciting time for you and your child although we understand that it can also be full of apprehension for parents and carers.  We'll do our best to make the first sessions go smoothly, easing your worry and helping your child settle.

On your child's first day, you will need to come to the front gate and press the buzzer.  A member of staff will open the gate to let you in but please bear with us as set up times and lunch times are particularly busy.  Once you are in through the gate, you can wait in the playground or under the shelter at the side of Busy Bees until we open the back door at 9am or 12pm.  You'll be introduced to your child's Key Person who will help them settle in.  Please look out for a Key Person information sheet in your child's pigeon hole - this will give your Key Person's name as well as information about the role they play in your child's time at Busy Bees.  We try hard to ensure you're able to talk to them whenever you need to although we appreciate drop off times can sometimes be a little rushed if parents need to get to work.  If it's more convenient for you, we can arrange other times to talk but there is always the online Learning Journey to keep you fully up to date.

You will receive two emails regarding your online Learning Journey next week.  One will be from Busy Bees and will include information about what it is and how to use it.  The second email will be from Tapestry and will include a link to access your Learning Journey for the first time.  This link is only valid for 24 hours so please check your junk messages and inform us if you need the link to be resent.

For every session your child attends, they will need a named bag which contains changes of clothes (for toilet training or if they get wet or muddy!) as well as nappies, wipes, sun cream and a sun hat.  All children need wellingtons for outdoor play - if they wear wellies to Busy Bees, please ensure they have shoes to change in to for when they are inside the building.  All items must be named as this minimises the chances of things getting lost or going home with another child.

Lunch is in two sittings with the morning children eating from 11:30-12 and afternoon children eating 12-12:30.  We have a packed lunch policy so would appreciate healthy items in lunch boxes please.  It is useful for children to come with a drinks bottle which we can refill during the day if needed although we do provide water and milk at morning and afternoon snack times.

At collection time, the door is opened at 12pm and 2:50pm and we appreciate children being collected on time please.  You are welcome to chat to your child's Key Person for reassurance that your child has been settled and happy.  You will also find information on the Learning Journey.

We look forward to enjoying many happy experiences with you and your child at Busy Bees.

Existing Parents and Carers:

We very much look forward to welcoming you and your child back to Busy Bees.  Please use the online Learning Journey to tell us about your Summer as this will help with settling back in and provide an excellent starting point for conversations in small groups and at circle time.  If your child will be in the Butterfly group, they will have had a brown bag to collect six special items to show at Letters and Sounds - great for building listening and attention skills!

Please remember that all children need a named bag with changes of clothes, nappies, wipes, sun cream and a sun hat.

See you next week!
