Fire Station Visit

On Friday afternoon, we all went for a visit to the Fire Station in Ledbury. The children we so excited and chatted away on our walk to the station, discussing what they might see and do.

The children had the opportunity to sit in the back of the fire engine which they loved.  We thought about how fast it might go, how many fire fighters might fit in and if it's noisy when the siren is on.  Afterwards, we were all able to have a go with the hose if we wanted to.  Some children felt brave enough to have a go whereas others preferred to watch.  As we pulled the lever back on the hose, the water came out faster - sometimes it was so powerful that it shot over the fence!  Fifre fighter Grant showed us what he looks like with his breathing apparatus on and Fire Fighter Christian showed us the thermal imaging equipment.

One of our favourite things was watching the curtain hose in action.  It put up a huge, powerful wall of water which can be used in serious fires.

We had a wonderful time and would like to thank Richard, Grant, Joel, Craig and Christian for being so welcoming and informative.
