The Hive!

On Thursday 29th March, we moved out of the Portacabin in the grounds of Ledbury Primary School to our wonderful new premises, purpose built inside the former Ledbury Youth Centre building.  Although work only began when we received the keys in February, a tremendous amount of hard work meant that we were ready to open on the first day of the Summer term, Monday 16th April.  Without out fabulous team of builders who worked tirelessly, the move would not have been possible.

The Hive offers us signifcantly more space than the Portacabin, meaning the children have a more open, spacious environment with room for us to set up some wonderfully creative learning opportunities.  We have separated areas off so that our Breakfast and After School Club have a more 'grown up' area in which to chill out and relax after a day at school.  The Hive offers a place away from school where they can play on our full sized pool table, explore the large outdoor space, join in adult led activities, play games with friends and chill out in our living room area with sofas, blankets, cushions and rugs.

Our outdoor area offers different spaces to play - a bark area with Mud Kitchens, a 'Little Hive' house, planters, trees, benches, loose parts play and reading areas.  The gravel part houses our water and sand play along with another reading area.  On our area of artificial grass, children can climb balance, use the slides and play ball games.  There really is so much to do!

Here are a few photos of The Hive all set up after a busy weekend prior to opening:

As you will see, there has been a complete transformation.  This could not have been achieved without the hard work of our builders, the support of the community and the wonderful parents who helped us to raise funds.  Thank you!
