Our sound for next week for our Butterfly and Ladybird groups will be 'u'.  We really appreciate it when the children bring in an item from home which begins with our sound of the week.

'Teachers' week at Busy Bees @ LPS

Calling all Parents, Carers, Grandparents and other family members - do you have a skill or hobby you would like to 'teach' the children?  During w/c 19th March, we will be exploring the role of Teachers.  The children would really benefit from family members coming into the setting to share a skill with them.  May be you are a keen Gardener, or Cook or speak a different language??  Speak to a member of staff about helping us with this subject.

September Sessions

Busy Bees @ LPS are now taking bookings for sessions in September.  Although we are now full, we have a waiting list and can contact parents should sessions become available.  September sessions are filling up fast so download a Registration Form and get it back to us if you would like to book your child in.  Alternatively, you can call in for a form.

World Book Day celebrations

Thank you for supporting World Book Day at Busy Bees @ LPS this year.

On Thursday, children brought in their favourite books, including 'Slinky Malinky', 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea', 'Mog Time' and 'The Gruffalo.'

Some children also dressed up and costumes included Woody from Toy Story, Thomas The Tank Engine, Lightning McQueen, the mouse from 'The Gruffalo' and The Gingerbread Man.

We would like to say a very big thank you to the parents who came in to read stories to the children.  The staff and children really appreciate it.

Our week learning about Dentists and Opticians

This week, the children have been learning about the work of Dentists and Opticians as part of our 'People Who Help Us' theme.

Busy Bees Partnership with Ledbury in Bloom

Busy Bees @ LPS have now completed their application for the 'It's Your Neighbourhood Scheme.'

We will soon be looking for helpers to assist us in clearing the area and helping the children begin planting.  Please contact us if you would like to be involved.

World Book Day - Thursday 1st March

This Thursday (1st March) is World Book Day.  To celebrate the occasion, the children have all received a £1 book token they can use to purchase a book published for World Book Day or alternatively it can be used to get £1 off another book of their choice.

Doctors and Opticians

Next week (w/c 27th Feb) the children will be exploring how Dentists and Opticians help us.  On Thursday an Oral Health Educator, Karen Jones, will be visiting from Ledbury Dental Practice.  She will be talking to the children about the importance of cleaning their teeth and what to expect when they visit a dentist.  On Friday, David from Dolland and Aitchinson Opticians will be coming to Busy Bees to talk to the children about his profession and how he helps us.

Visits from PC Sparrow and CSO Heather Mika

The children enjoyed learning all about the Police and Community Support Officers this week.  On Wednesday, PC Sparrow visited Busy Bees with his Police car.  The children enjoyed 'driving' the car and pressing the buttons to sound the siren and turn on the lights.  PC Sparrow also brought lots of colouring pictures for the children.  On Friday, we were visited by Community Support Officer, Heather Mika.  She talked to the children about 'Stranger Danger' and read a story.  Afterwards, the children sat in the car and operated the lights.  We woul

Letters and Sounds

Bev's 'Butterfly' group and Jodie's 'Ladybird' group will be learning all about the 'k' sound next week.  Could you encourage your child to bring something in for their session please?  We might see some kings, koalas, kiwis, kites or Kipper the dog.  Bev and Jodie really appreciate parents and carers support with their Letters and Sounds sessions.  The children really enjoy showing what they've brought in.
